Always confirm the expiration date printed on the package itself before
use. This tool reads only the barcode; it cannot detect a damaged,
recalled, or mislabeled package, and a barcode with no encoded date will
show "NO DATE" even if the printed date is present and visible. Many
repackaged unit-dose barcodes carry no date at all by design — that's a
limitation of the barcode, not this tool. When in doubt, follow
department policy and check the physical label.
